Route description. The river Misa is a right tributary of the river Iecava. Together with the river Ķekaviņa it forms the Daugava – Misa channel. In many parts, the banks of the river are marshy and steep, which makes it more difficult to access it. It flows along a flat, forested area. the river is inhabited by roach, pike, perch, chub, freshwater cod, etc. Many minks, water-rats and beavers can be found in the river.
Since the river bursts its banks during the spring, at the beginning of the route it is hard to understand where the flooded meadows end and the river begins. Already after 170 m there will be the first bridge – a bridge that runs over the A7 motorway. At the beginning the banks of the river are mostly wooded. After about 1 km after the bridge, the allotment district Dzērumi starts.
In the initial phase of the route there are many and various bends. About 9 km of the river winds through a summer cottage area, and only in some places are its banks surrounded by meadows and forest. Trees have fallen down in several places, which will make boating more interesting. There are two pedestrian bridges over the river in the allotment district. This section of the route also has three secular trees – oak (1), elm (2), pine (3). In one section of the route on the right side of the river, from afar you can see horses that carelessly run around a meadow.
When the allotment district ends, more woodlands appear and the banks are not that winding anymore. Banks here are mainly steep. On the banks you can see various interestingly twisted tree root systems. after 1.5 km the river becomes narrower. Going further, you will meet horses from the farm Dabas Zirgi (Horses of Nature) (D), casting curious glances in your direction. After another 2 km you will see a motor road and in a short while also a bridge. Behind the bridge, after 1.5 km, on your right, you will see the Daugava – Misa channel.
The ride continues almost straight and after about 1 km and 400 m you will reach the destination – Plakanciems bridge. There is a car park on both sides of the bridge.
